Not all insulation is created equal. Summit XPS boards are made from extruded polystyrene and have proven thermal performance across three key applications.
Ceiling Insulation
Summit XPS boards are the ‘no-brainer’ choice for ceiling insulation. Popular across residential homes, schools, offices, and retail and commercial developments, these boards do more than just regulate temperature. Whether it is a new build or an existing structure, Summit XPS boards can be installed as a nail-up ceiling or fitted between existing trusses.
For residential pitched roofs, the over-truss and over-rafter method keeps insulation continuous across the entire roof plane, while the over-purlin application is ideal for industrial, commercial, and agricultural structures. The tongue-and-groove edge profiles lock together for a tight, seamless fit, Summit XPS boards can even follow a 5-metre radius in curved roof applications. With smooth or pine finish options available, the ceiling looks just as good as it performs.
Wall Insulation
Wall insulation is often overlooked, but in taller residential homes, the ratio of roof area to wall area decreases, making heat transfer through walls increasingly significant. Summit XPS boards are installed in the perimeter wall cavity, between the inner and outer walls, to reduce heat loss and help minimise condensation and moisture penetration. Because of the closed-cell structure of XPS, the boards can be installed in damp areas without losing long-term thermal performance, making them a reliable choice for coastal regions and high-humidity environments.
Floor Insulation
Underfloor installation is one of the most practical applications for Summit XPS boards. Installed beneath the concrete slab, Summit XPS boards prevent cold from rising through the floor and maintain surface temperatures at a consistent, moderate level. Insulated floors can be approximately 5°C warmer than uninsulated ones, which makes a noticeable difference in both comfort and energy consumption. Summit XPS boards are used below ice rinks, freezer rooms, and certain agricultural applications where minimising heat flow into cold rooms is critical. For projects with underfloor heating systems, Summit XPS boards should be installed below the screed to maximise the system’s efficiency.
The Right Board for Every Project
One board. Three applications. No compromises. Summit XPS boards are built to perform whether they are above your head, behind your walls, or beneath your feet. With thicknesses ranging from 30mm up to 100mm and four profile options available, every insulation is covered regardless of size or complexity.
